Day 1: Getting There...

Okay - not sure how much Internet we'll have but we're going to do our best to keep it updated. Today started at 2:50 AM - heading out the door. A wonderful friend of ours was willing to get up at the crack of dawn and drive us to the airport.

Got there with plenty of time - too much time actually - the gates didn't even start taking people until 4:15. No sweat. We have waited this long for our girl - I guess we can wait 20 more minutes for the desk to open.

But check out what God did - the young couple in front of us was heading to Mexico on their 1st anniversary and they were full of energy (for it being so early). Come to find out they were Christians and were actually seated right next to us on the fight to DC (Mexico via DC - ya got me!?). Anyways - they were a blessing - kept Laura engaged and talking the whole time. Which was good - because I slept.

We also got all of our luggage on without having to pay any extra! Whew - it was touch and go there for a second as the dude placed his hand on the top and I saw it soar to like 60 pounds. GULP! But we are good. All 150 pounds of orphanage donations made it!

So now we are sitting at the gate in DC - we waited about 35 minutes to get our boarding passes at Ethiopian Airlines - glad we were up front in the line. Laura just went and got a Subway sandwhich for breakfast (what?? Subway for breakfast? I guess Jared would approve.) and we are about 20 minutes away from boarding the flight.

If ya think about it - maybe toss a prayer up. Satan tried to rear his stupid head early this morning - and I feel like I am getting a sinus infection. No sweat - I can handle it - but I'd rather it just went away.

Thanks again for everybody out there praying, supporting and just being all around dope. We are feeling it.

Next stop - ETHIOPIA!!

Subway for breakfast is good. Could have been Pizza. Well, no. Praying for a safe trip for both of you and hoping that the cold does not take hold. On our last trip to Europe, I came down with the same cold. Too much stress and too much to get done. Relax and enjoy where God has placed you now at the end of the beginning of your adoption journey.
