One of the clubs you get jumped in to when you become a new parent is this underground consignment world. It's nuts - and a little scary. So Laura scored her an early entry due to having a child under 12 months - so she was out the door at 5:30 with her laundry basket with a rope tied to it (so so weird to me).
That left me and Meron to hang out. What a blast. We chilled on the floor. I bugged her with the camera. We hopped in the Xterra and rolled to World Market. She talked me in to getting her a new stuffed animal (we really just went for a toy container of some sort). She stole some hearts in there. Then we hit Publix - new stuffed toy in tow. She stole a few more hearts.
After that it was home for a bath, dinner, some reading from her bible and bedtime.
We missed mommy a ton tonight - but thanks Meron for keeping me company (oh - and Laura scored BIG TIME at the consignment sale.)

Tonight we put Meron to bed and about 25 minutes went by when I was like "Oh man - I didn't take a picture today?!"
Now she hadn't made a peep since she went in there so I am thinking she is knocked out - I figure I can slide in there - snap a shot in the dark with the flash on - and dip out before she even knows who was there.
It was really dark, so i just pointed and shot - flash and all. Check her out. She wasn't even sleeping yet - she was just chilling out in her bed.
Man. She really makes me smile.

Today was a pretty special day for us as the Hoffmans. This morning we stood on stage and dedicated Meron to Jesus - we promised to pray for her and guide her in life so that she can and will know who Jesus is and what He did for us. It is our deepest hope and prayer that she will know who Jesus is at a young age and that she will begin to cultivate a relationship with Him that will last a lifetime.
We are so grateful for the wonderful people we have around us who are as dedicated as we are to praying for Meron. She has no idea just how big of a role Jesus has played in her life already. Or maybe she does...
Big thanks to all of our friends who came out to see her be dedicated (and even run our cameras for us!!). For family and friends who wanted to come but couldn't - you were missed but we know you guys are praying for us and that means the world to us.
Check out some pics and a little you tube video below.

Today's doctor visit brought the good and the bad. The good was that Meron's lungs sounded incredible and she has pretty much fully recovered from her pneumonia/RSV. Woo hoo.
The bad? That's right - second round of vaccinations. Poor thing screamed hard-core for about 45 seconds and then of course she was all smiles again. But it does make her feel a little icky. She threw up a few times this evening which led to an early bath time and and an early bed time.
But the smiles were back at bath time - she loves the water (as you can see below)!

At our first trip to our pediatrician when we got home we were all signed in and sitting in the waiting room. We were right on time and there was one other mom and child in there. The door cracks open and the nurse comes out and says "Megan."
Laura looks at me and I whisper "Must be those other peeps." But nobody is moving. Then we hear the nurse say "Moron Hoffman."
What? Did I just hear her right? I came out of a three-point stance and tackled her against the wall. Just kidding.
But I did clean-sweep her legs and put her in a figure-four / full nelson until she was grasping for breath while waiting for her to say "Uncle." Or better yet - "Uncle Meron."
No I didn't.
I looked at Laura who quickly said "It's Meron." No harm no foul - why should they know how to pronounce it? However we now spend Wednesday mornings practicing writing our E's in hopes of never running in to that weird situation again.
So that incident - coupled with a few requests from folks asking how to pronounce her name has prompted this post. So here we go - some phonetic spelling of our girl's name for those of you wondering:
Mare-UnIt's not Mueer-on, or Mee-ron. Or even Mare-own. Just Mare-un.
Pretty simple. Pretty easy. Pretty darn beautiful to my ears. And by the way - in her native language, it means "Gift from God."
And what a gift she is. Enjoy some daily pics of our girl!

Jesus might have harsh words for Christians today. Here's why...and what you can do about it.
That is how Tom Davis opens up a new article he recently wrote on the state of Christianity in America and how well we do as Christians in regards to some of the things Jesus said we should be doing.
His main focus is how we should be serving God by serving the least. But we aren't. We are not doing what we are suposed to be doing. I say "we" because I am right there with the worst of them. But God has spanked me lately. I feel Him talking directly to my heart. He has bypassed my brain (He saw pretty quickly that my brain couldn't get it) and He has started talking directly to my heart.
So go read this provocative article. Let it hit ya - and hurt ya. And tell me what you think about it. How can we be better at this?
