Happy Halloween!

We headed out to celebrate Halloween with the rest of our Halloweenie friends tonight. It started with some delicious chili and then we promptly headed out the door to see what the kid crew could score...

Meron and Sophia didn't make the varsity team this year - but they did ride along in the wagon plotting their every move for next year (well - in between feeding each other leaves).

We had a great time with great friends and were reminded yet again about how blessed we are by the people God has put in our lives.

Thanks guys - we had a blast!

Cute by Association

Here is a quote from a sweet older lady at Publix this morning when Meron and I dipped in for a quick and dirty list...

"Son... You two are the cutest things I have ever seen."
Yep - that's right. I was just "cuted by association" - because trust me - there was nothing cute about me.

I am thinking it was the hat - what do you think?

Brighton Asher

Brighton would have been a year old today.

I think about what this year has brought us - the ups - the downs - the pain - the hurt - the joy - the happiness. It's been a roller coaster.

We are thankful to God for every single thing He has opened our eyes to - every single thing He has had us experience. Throughout this process and its moments - every up and down - every unknown, fear and concern - every praise and joy - our relationship and trust in God has grown tenfold.

And we are so thankful...

Listen to the lyrics in the song below. It took me a couple of months to be able to listen to this song after Brighton went home - but they speak to our hearts and do a great job of conveying exactly how we feel.

We miss you Brighton. We'll hold you at some point son...

Getting Political

So we swore to ourselves we'd never get politcal on our site. Our plan was to keep it all about our adoption process - our day-to-day life - our plans for the future.

But sometimes ya just gotta weigh in. Especially when ya find yourself blindsided.

I walked in to Meron's room today to find that somebody had been pretty busy - these were plastered all throughout the room:

She swore she had a few swing "stuffed animals" that she was working over.

Let me tell ya - it was a tough conversation to have telling her that first off - her mommy and daddy needed to get rolling and finish her paperwork because I didn't think she could run for anything with just a greencard.

And secondly - she has about 35 more years before she's eligible.

She took it pretty well. More time to square away her platform.

I'd vote for her...

Baby in a B.O.B. Bubble

Meron has had a little runny nose for the past couple of days. Nothing major really - and she is acting just fine - but never the less she has a good flow of nasal juice. We're not sure if it's her teeth, a cold or just gravity making that stuff come out.

Wouldn't really matter either except today - mommy was working late - the weather was cold and windy - and daddy had 10 miles he had to run.

Enter - the B.O.B. Bubble. Best thing ever. This masterpiece of invention hooks on to our B.O.B. running stroller and protects Meron from the elements.

The big thing today was the wind - not knowing what was up with her nose I didn't want her getting face-blasted with wind for 10 miles. Well - the B.O.B. Bubble worked like a champ and Meron knocked out her first 10 miler no problem. It's a little like pushing a small sailboat but we still knocked out 10 miles at a 7:45 pace. We'll get better...

We ended the night by going to hang out with some great friends for dinner and Meron got to finally meet some people that had been hearing about her story from the beginning.

Way to go Meron! Half-marathon is next!

Happy Birthdays

Meron got to go celebrate Laney's birthday on Saturday - and celebrate they did. They partied so hard Meron threw up not once, not twice, not 3 times - but 4 times. That's a good party. Or it's 2 new teeth coming in.

And last week - Meron got to celebrate the big 0-1 with her BFF Sophia - we didn't get any good pictures (our camera stinks) but check out Sophia's page for a good breakdown!

And right after that it was a quick nap in the car and off to get jiggy with it at another friend's party. Emma got her groove on at the park and Meron had a blast!

Happy Birthday Sophia, Emma and Laney! We love you guys and cherish your awesome friendships!
