Our son, Brighton Asher, went home to be with his heavenly Father a year ago today. It's pretty safe to say that not a day passes where thoughts of him don't cross our mind.
We never got to hold you.
We never got to feed you, rock you or bathe you.
We never got to read to you or sing you silly songs.
We never got to wean you off a bottle or clean up after you.
There are so many things that we wanted to do that we didn't get to.
But it was never about us - was it Brighton? God had much bigger plans for your life. And because of that we reaped so much from your 76 days here on earth.
We did get to brag about you and show your picture to everyone who would look.
We did get to learn as much about your homeland as we could and come to love it and the people there.
We did get to see the overwhelming goodness in people - people who stood by our side in some of the darkest spots we had to walk.
We did have our hearts broken for what we believe breaks God's heart - the plight of orphans everywhere.
We did get to meet the amazing women who cared for you while you were still here.
We did get to bring Meron Asher - your little sister! - home to be with us forever.
We will get to teach her all about you and the impact you had on the lives of so many.
We miss you Brighton - and we WILL hold you in our arms one day.

Been thinking of you all day and all week. Brighton impacted us, and we are challenged to give, love and serve more. We stand with you, friends.
Brynly and I will say an extra prayer for (to) your son tonight that we all can make some difference for all the babies just like him in Ethiopia.
Reallly sweet post....
Your love for your son is so evident in many, many ways. I am blessed to see you honor his life. Thinking of you all today.
You both honor his memory in the way that you live your lives and in the impact that your story has had on so many. I have thought about you and prayed for all of you for the last few days. May you continue to mirror God's love for you to those you meet.

Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5 (NKJV)
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the
morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look
up."
Psalms 5:3, KJV
"Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should
walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee."
Psalms 143:8, KJV
This was more than a beautiful post. its how the Hoffmans live their lives.
You guys rock
What an amzing post! I hope our boys are together laughing at their crazy parents and siblings. Thinking of you all!
Mary
