God's Covenant With Us

And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." - Genesis 9:12-16
I thought of this promise from God this week. 4 days in to some torrential downpours here in Atlanta - it seemed like He might be reconsidering that deal of His. But that Sunday - I dropped Laura off for a run in the rain and as Meron and I drove around - there it was. A giant rainbow - one of the biggest I have ever seen - just hanging out in the sky.

I am thankful for God's promises to us - and the undeserved blessings He continues to give us. Especially this week.

Those pictures below were taken about 250 yards from our house. An elementary school is completely under water. And yet our home wasn't even touched.

Sure - Meron's school was cancelled - roads were closed everywhere. It took Laura 3 hours to get home from work yesterday. We had to revamp our work schedules and rearrange our days to manage our girl. And it's easy to get frustrated.

But then we walked down the street as a family this afternoon and I realized how rich, rich, rich we are. I am so rich. And in the midst of the storm - I still have these two. And we all have God. What more could we want, really?

If you have neighbors that need anything, please let us know.

God is so gracious to give us little signs and messages. They are everywhere. Hopefully each day we'll learn to see them more.
