I ♥ Faces - Pouting and Pets

It's that time again. The "I ♥ Faces" website weekly photo contest. Not that I think I would ever stand a chance of winning but it's just fun and gives me a theme for the pictures we take. After posting at least a picture a day since we've been back - the inspiration is helpful!

This week's entry was to be Pouting and then one about Pets. Tough one for us - Meron hardly ever pouts. I'm serious. One for goofy smiles? We'd have millions to choose from. But pouting? Not so many.

So here's an oldie but goodie from last year. It's our old camera so it's not as nice looking - but her face cracks me up. And our pet shot is in memory of one of my best friends ever - Sir Sandler Archie Moses.

Almost. Kinda, Sort of...

Meron is not a big fan of shoes. I mean - when you put her in her carseat she has them off before ya get to the driver's side. She's that good at it.

Not so good at getting them back on yet - though. But I give her an "A" for effort. Keep up the hard work girl - you'll get it!

From The Sidelines

Meron is getting pretty used to showing up at races - but usually she's running in them with us or cheering us on. This time we got to go support some of our good friends in their first half-marathon in Atlanta.

Kelli and Jennifer had trained for the past few months with Laura so we were all excited about watching them knock out this race. I won't lie - being there made me wish we were running - but it was pretty cool to provide some of the support from the sidelines that we have received from so many people.

Way to go Kelli and Jennifer!! You guys did great!

May I Have Your Attention, Please?

Well - just did another Sharpie Challenge from those crazy guys over at Soul Pancake. This time they said:

Grab an old t-shirt, get out a Sharpie, turn it into a billboard for something you stand for, and wear it proudly.

Loving these excuses to bust out my Sharpies and color. Here is mine. What do you stand for?

Airport Blessing

When we traveled to Ethiopia last June to bring Meron home we were blessed with the opportunity to meet a young man with an amazing story and an awesome smile! He was at the same orphanage Meron was at and we were delivering some gifts to him from his family here in Atlanta.

We never could shake his bright face from our minds and we knew we were better people for having met him. He made it on to our nightly prayer list as we prayed for all the orphans in the world and by name for the ones we knew to be coming home soon.

Tonight - almost 9 months later - we were able to be at the airport to greet him and his sister and mom and dad as they came home as a family. Talk about an amazing moment. Several families with children from the same orphanage showed up. It was so cool to see those kids running around with each other, hugging each other and just being kids with each other.

Welcome home Addisu and Samarah! Thank you for allowing us to be part of this incredible journey of yours! Meron (and mom and dad too!) can't wait to hang out with you guys!

Meron's buddy Teo (pronounced "Tay-O") came over for a quick visit yesterday. He is about 5 months older than Meron and a LOT quicker! It was fun watching her chase him around the yard - she loves to hang out with the big kids!

I ♥ Faces - No Flash

We are wanting to become better photographers. We're trying to learn new and better techniques all the time - and what better way than a cool weekly contest with a theme around faces? That what the "I ♥ Faces" website is all about.

This week's entry guidelines? No Flash. We snapped this one of Meron as we were heading in to "family night" at Chick-Fil-A. That's her gang sign for "eat" that she's dropping.
