Day 9: Mommy on a Mission

Happy Fourth of July! We hope everybody had a great day of fun, celebrating and remembering. Laura started off her second week in great spirits. The prayers from you guys are seriously being felt and we can't really even begin to thank you. Just know that you all have a special place in our hearts and that you were a HUGE part of this mission trip.

SLEPT GOOD...
After yesterday ending with a prayer request regarding her location and her feeling a bit uncomfortable - I was super relieved to have this text hit my phone as my day came to an end - "Slept good. Getting ready for church. We have afternoon off." Sounds like the worries, fears and uncomfortable feelings she had been experiencing were gone.

And now - church. Church in Africa. I was more excited to hear about this than most anything on her trip. I knew from my time spent in South Africa - that African church services were a sight to behold - and I was praying that she would have a similar experience...

AFRICANS KNOW HOW TO WORSHIP
Just as we were getting up and getting ready to go to church - I got this text message from Laura:

"Church was amazing! Africans know how to worship! Met some american med students. I am going to their clinic with them for a while. Happy 4th! I love you!"

This warmed my heart - it sounded like she had an awesome experience at the church service and I seriously can not wait to hear all about it. It also looked like Laura had found something to do with her day of rest. I'm really excited that she seems to be allowing God to take her wherever he sees fit.

I heard from Laura one last time, shortly before we headed out to a 4th of July party and shortly before she was heading to bed. She texted:

"Going to bed. No power. Hanging with the medical team was awesome. Was in a remote village. Just 3 of us went from VO team. Played with kids for hours.. Missing you and warm showers too."

We're missing you too Laura...

ON THE HOME FRONT
We had a fun and relaxing day here. We made it to church with our family and got to hear our niece read the scripture... very cool. I am not sure what was in that sermon we heard but when we got home we ALL crashed hard and slept for a few hours... after that we headed to a pool party to celebrate 4th of of July with my sister's dinner group friends. Meron was an absolute fish in the pool - at one point yelling out "Hey guys - look at me - I swimming all by myself!" Good times... but we miss our girl, that's for sure...

Thanks again for your prayer support! Don't stop now - we've almost prayed her there and back! Tomorrow they will be spending time working with children at the Tumain Children's Orphanage in Pallia.

You guys are the coolest...
