Seuss On Church...

We recently went through a church split. A silly, dumb, religious, prideful, painful church split. Apparently in the church world these are pretty common. Who wouldda thunk it?

It got me thinking a lot and I feel like God has been busy revealing stuff to me in my head like crazy... And last night some of it busted out of my head in the form of a rhyme.

It's been a while since i practiced my iambic pentameter so I resorted to Dr. Seuss style...

That is just awesome Tymm! God has blessed you with some clarity on this one for sure. I'm not a member of your church, but ALWAYS hate to hear of a church split, because it always seems to be for the "wrongest" of reasons....

I am certainly impressed with your creativeness. Sorry about your church, oh I mean HIS church, how easily we get confused sometimes ;)

I love your illustration - it should be given to everyone "mature" christian! But how sad that it is even needed to describe His bride :). I had the "priviledge" of having of watching first hand the heart break of a church split and I am sad that it removed my head from the sand where it had happily been all my church life! I still wanted to believe that the Sunday smiles and churchy sounding words actually meant transformed lives! After seeing grown men and women remove their cloaks of "righteousness" and duke it out over issues that would make elementary kids roll their eyes, I have never looked at church the same way again.

It will hurt more as you watch people make an altar for their egos and refuse to stop bowing down to worship at the ego altar, but instead will be and try to staking claim on how "righteous" their position was. But take heart, it does get better (until the current carpet gets outdated)! But it does put God's grace into even sharper focus - how He withholds His wrath as the Western Christian lets our western comforts give us the luxury to argue over such frivolous matters while children die around the world of preventable causes.

Blessings.

This is AWESOME. I love it with the Dr. Seuss images too! Thanks for sharing your thoughts/concerns about the modern church in a way that most people can handle. :-)
