Mrs. Potato Head And The Art Of Being Pretty

Every now and then Meron will see something on TV that convinces her she has to find her beauty or her self-worth in some THING. Like a purse. Or lip gloss. Or a dress.

Or in this case Mrs. Potato Head's earrings.

It drives me nuts what our culture tells our little girls today - even at such a young age.

"You're not pretty enough!"

"You're not smart enough!"

"You're not thin enough!"

You're not cool enough!"

"You're not good enough!"

"You're just... not enough!"
I try to find the positive in it and use it to tell her how she is fearfully and wonderfully made by the one God who made her in His beautiful image. That she doesn't need a single other thing to help radiate her beauty.

It usually ends with er saying something like:
"Okay - but I want some earrings..."
Sorry girl... not for a long, long time.

Fact is - you are gorgeous - inside and out - without a single accessory being needed!
