Jesse Tree

Our friends over at Team Radicchi broke all the rules and got us a Christmas present (and gave it to us early!)

And man are we glad they did!

I have been wanting to get some sort of advent calendar to focus and carry us through December - well they went one better and got us all the ornaments for a Jesse Tree! Handmade with love even!

What is a Jesse Tree you ask?

The Jesse Tree is a unique advent calendar that represents the family tree, or genealogy of Jesus Christ. It tells the story of God's salvation plan, beginning with creation and continuing through the Old Testament, to the coming of the Messiah. The name comes from the following scripture:

"A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him —
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord —
and he will delight in the fear of the Lord."

  - Isaiah 11:1-2
Our girls are LOVING it!

We are all caught up and have made it our bedtime ritual now, alternating who gets to put the ornament on. So far, so good - no fist fights have broken out over the ornament hanging duty.

I have, however, on more than one occasion, caught myself singing "Ya know I wish that I had Jesse's tree..."

Thanks so much guys for thinking of us and blessing us with such an awesome gift!

I saw Rebecca's blog about their Jesse tree and she said she was making an extra set of decorations. Now I know who received them! Bless her heart! NC Granny

Cool, didn't know we broke a rule, but breaking rules is kinda' fun!

So glad you like it. We hoped you would, and knew that your family would find as much joy and meaning in it as we are. It is our favorite Christmas tradition!
