Meron went in today for a hair cut... apparently it was pretty needed (says the people around here with hair).
I guess she had told Laura she was worried Daddy wouldn't like it cuz she knows how "daddy likes my long hair."
She couldn't have been more wrong - i LOVE it! She was so excited to show me when I got home. She met me halfway up the stairs and just flung herself off the steps into my arms...
I made sure she knew and understood that her beauty has NOTHING to do with her hair and everything to do with the incredibly gorgeous heart God built her body around.
I also let her know i LOVED her hair.

No matter the style Meron - this daddy will ALWAYS think you and your sister are the most beautiful things on this planet!

For the record... they cut about 1.5 inches off. I used the title "Chop Chop Chop" cuz I liked it.
Unsolicited opinions around things that we take super serious and put a lot of effort into are laughed at around this house.
I find it comical how polarized the issue of white people caring for the hair of beautiful brown kids is online.
Find a bigger issue to cling to people...
Oh gosh..super, SUPER cute!! LOVE her curls. She looks like such a big girl!
As a black person I must say that your wife does an excellent job with your girls' hair from the pictures I have seen. I could probably use some tips from her on how to take care of my own natural hair lol. Obviously she is doing something right seeing as how much their hair has grown and how healthy it looks. It seems that someone will always find something to criticize. Dont sweat the negativity. Oh and your girls are gorgeous!
Dear Anonymous... THANK YOU for taking the time to write that.
Even though we let most negativity roll right off our backs - i'd be lying if I said it doesn't hurt sometimes that people seem to want to judge what we do with our girls' hair (the most trivial of things) and then use that to validate how well we, as a "Caucasian family," are doing raising our Ethiopian children.
It actually just angers me but it hurts my wife. So I seriously appreciate you taking the time to write those kind words.
