NOTE TO SELF: Talk to Meron about sharing...
Especially in her sleep!
Lucky for her she's got one super, loving, caring, forgiving, selfless little sister...
Emphasis on LITTLE.
Steamroll her next time Mebbie!

I'm so thankful for all of the kids in this picture right here. For their lives and who they are and what God made them to do... so thankful my path has crossed each of theirs.
Also thankful they're willing to make goofy turkey hats and wear them for this picture even when some of them were feeling way less than stellar...
Happy Thanksgiving folks!

The flu is mean. So mean that it kept me inside almost all of the day. Except when I stepped outside to take a look at this...
And then these two slid in and I had a frame full of His incredible creations...
Painted skies trump influenza every single time!

One word... FLU.
Poor girl was diagnosed this morning with it... thinking daddy has it too. Whole family started Tamiflu today...
Her little buddy Cooper kept her company on the couch a good chunk of the day. Praying the meds do their thing soon!
Here's to feeling better girl!

What does a one hour time change and a day FULL of fun with cousins and an aunt uncle give ya?
Two really, really, really sleepy girls!
These two crashed out right after dinner and are sleeping harder than they have in a while.
Recharge girls... so ya can do it again tomorrow!

Today - we no longer have a little 4 year old in the house - as Mebbie turned the big FIVE years old today!
And even though we spent the whole day in the car traveling to spend the holiday with some family - we plan on celebrating you BIG this week Mebbie!
Mommy and Daddy love you birthday girl!

Tomorrow this girl here turns FIVE! What, what, what?!?!?
But since we'll be kinda out of pocket all day tomorrow - we decided to party it up big time tonight with her!
Her big sis Meron was all up in the mix...
There were some cards from out-of-towners...
and of course a pink frilly skirt!
There were some jeggings...
and a birthday hug from the Zechie-Monster!
Some more clothes...
Some more sibling love...
and then - the big secret that Meron picked out for her - Baby Tiana!
Next up was a mini-birthday cake shaped like a mug of hot chocolate...
All of this partying resulted in two VERY SLEEPY girls who accompanied me on some errands and lasted about 5 minutes...
Happy Birthday Eve Mebbie! Your family loves you girl!

there is ZERO doubt in my mind that God has gifted our girl Mebrate with the spiritual gift of prayer. She impacts us all when she closes her eyes and talks to God...
We're so thankful for her heart that hears Him and the way she chats with Him.
I snuck and recorded her a while back... check it out below...
Never stop talking to Him Mebbie... cuz He'll never stop listening to you!

Yesterday was Meron's Thanksgiving program and Laura and I were blessed to be able to both attend...
First we found our assigned table with Meron's "Thankful" place mat she had made. I was beaming with pride at her list - with God topping it off!
Next out came the pilgrims in full on song!
Meron was looking a little solemn...
No matter what I did - I simply could not get a smile...
I asked her "Baby - were you afraid the Mayflower was leaving with out you?" to which she looked at me and said:
"Daddy... did you see the stage? There was no Mayflower. Just pilgrims and indians."Oh... my bad pragmatic Meron...
After the show though - she was ALL SMILES! Not to mention she was the Mayflower's only pilgrim rocking some Converse!
She was probably all smiles cuz it was time to get our eat on! Her school hooked us up with a Thanksgiving meal complete with turkey, dressing, corn, and dessert!
Meron - you were an INCREDIBLE pilgrim...
Mommy and daddy are both incredibly thankful for you, your heart and your love of God and your family... KEEP BEING YOU!

So... I wrote a book. Or I guess I should say I "rhymed a book."
This project has been in the works for like... ever. So long that I am pretty sure I blogged about it in the past some time. Anyways...
This has truly been a project of God's that He has brought me along on for the ride. I told Him back in the day:
"God... if you want this book to see the light of day - then You need to bring me an illustrator..."And He did. And she is AWESOME.
But I needed confidence... what ya got for me there God?
Well - enter the girls. About once a week they wanna bust it out to read before bedtime. They seem to love it... and Meron has the entire thing pretty much memorized!
It makes my heart grin to see them smiling like this while reciting the lyrics to the rhymes...
Meron even got in on the little book trailer video we made - check it out below:
So now - here's where we are... I am still super interested in traditional publishing - and I am exploring all angles and leads on that i can find. We are also working on a prototype "guardian angel" doll to go with the book. However...
We have decided - for no apparent reason or thought process - that if we reach 500 likes on the Facebook page - we'll go ahead and throw together a pre-order page and get our first indie printing of it going. Seriously...we will.
So come on over and like us and get us one step closer to our first print. And hey - know anybody in traditional print for cool children's books with dope rhymes and fun illustrations? Send 'em our way - we wanna talk!

I'm so proud of these girls right here. For so many reasons really but tonight it's this one... I always tell the girls that no compliment carries more weight than when relative strangers compliment them to us.
Tonight after small group at our church we had three different people from the childcare say things to us like:
"These two girls are awesome!"and
"They have great manners!"and
"They are so well-behaved!"and
"They were the ONLY ones helping to clean up tonight..."Seriously... I was beaming with pride...
Girls... this is a BIG BIG deal to me and mommy...
The whole way home we told them how proud of them we were. Their lips melted into smiles so big they were swallowing their faces...
This kind of behavior and manners and respect - coupled with your OBVIOUS love for each other - is gonna take you guys FAR!
Never been more proud to be your daddy!

Actually - it's not even a question when it comes to these two.
Meron lives life throughout her waking moments of the day at full speed - redlining it the whole time - throttle all the way open.
Mebbie on the other hand is a bit more conservative - taking a slightly slower pace overall.
So then... when it's time for things like movie night or just being allowed to stay up a bit later - this is the way things almost ALWAYS end up.
A passed out Meron and a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Mebbie - who probably wouldn't go to sleep EVER if we didn't force her.
Completely opposite ends of the spectrum on this one - but it's how God made them and we love them for it!

I tried about 50x to get a shot. This is the best we could get...
Poor Mebbie has some of the most sensitive eyes I have ever seen.
But ya know what? Regardless of the sun blinding their eyes shut - I have three of the most beautiful kids on the planet.
Thankful for each of 'em...

The girls have always loved to ask me questions about the Beastie Boys and try out their own "b-boy stances."
But now that we got three little munchkins running around - well now we can get official.
So tonight we taught Zechie the art of the b-boy stance. He's got some work to do... but we're getting there.
Next up? Some little Beastie Boys outfits and maybe a full on video!

We love this ministry known as 60 Feet. They are doing some incredible work in Africa and really everywhere they go... they have solid hearts for Jesus and are just fun people. Love 'em.
A couple years ago I got to lead a team to visit one of the children's prisons (yeah - you read that right) that they work at in Uganda. Hands down one of the most impacting experiences I have ever had.
So when they asked me to write a guest blog for them on their running site (they have a running team that raises awareness) - I was ALL FOR IT! And completely humbled...
So I wrote it. It's called "I'm a Runner." Here's a little snippet:
"I wanted to be mad at God – but as I looked for Him I swear I saw him beside me – leaning over lacing up His running shoes. And I might have been seeing things but I think He had picked up the dropped baton and was handing it back to me."You can read the whole thing on their blog HERE.
And why not give these guys a little love and support while you're at it - they work endlessly at what they do.
Thanks, 60 Feet - for doing what ya do.

Meron is growing into such a gorgeous little lady...
And ya know what's even more beautiful than her little model poses? That heart that she carries around inside her chest.
You glow on the inside and and out Meron - never forget what is most important!
Daddy loves ya girl!

Yep - as of yesterday afternoon - this happened!
She was so excited - and to be honest I was worried. Attention isn't one of her strong points - but man did she prove me wrong and make me one proud daddy in the process!
Can ya see that smile she is wearing in this picture? It is HUGE and rightfully so - she was killing it!
Round and round and round and round the circle we went.
She's even got stopping down pretty well!
But she doesn't stay stopped for long!
I told her we'd ride every day this week so she would be feeling super confident in her abilities.
Daddy is sooooo proud of you Meron! Just another example of what all you can accomplish when you put your mind to it!
Keep up the incredible work girl!
