Two Thousand Five Hundred (and counting)...

Today - this right here - is our 2,500th blog post!

Kinda blows my mind when I think back to starting this thing in 2007 and looking at Laura and saying:

"We're not gonna become one of those crazy blogging families..."
Ha ha... oops. Too Late.

But ya know what? We wouldn't change a thing.

We keep writing this thing to create the biggest digital scrapbook we possibly can - and along the way we've been given the opportunity to meet a bunch of really cool people...

Like this week...

This week we got the chance to meet somebody who has been reading our blog for a while... a friend of my sister and an all around great person!

And while she didn't wanna have her picture on the blog (we tried - believe me - even Meron said "Awww - come on - you'll be on the blog!") - we thought she still needed to be celebrated. So that's what we're doing!

We absolutely LOVE meeting people who come along this crazy little journey of life we're on. Because we've found that they cheer with ya - and pray with ya - and everything in between.

We pray one thing over and over and over - every single night - that God would help us be a family that tries to bring glory to Him in all we say and all we do.

And it goes without saying that this extends to our blog. We pray that is what it has been these last 7+ years.

While we never set out to have folks reading this thing - we wanna say thanks to every one of ya - there's been MANY times when we almost tossed in the towel on this thing. Your words of encouragement and prayers have played a big part in keeping these posts going.

Here's to 7 more years of daily antics and finding ways to see God in every single day...

The Return of Wrestling With Will

The last time the goofball gang got to see their cousin Will - the wrestling was off limits because he was nursing a pretty nasty broken clavicle.

But not any more.

This visit - he's all healed up and they put him to the test.

I think this face summed it up.

Glad to have ya healed and back in action, Will!

Triple Trouble Blessings

These guys right here man...

I don't let a day go by without thanking God for what He has done in my family.

I'll never know why He thought I deserved this.

But I'm so thankful He did...

Passed the Six Year Old Torch

We celebrated this gorgeous on the inside and out girl today in a BIG WAY...

Cuz today - Mebski Love got handed the torch and the title of "Resident Six Year Old" ... and she was off and running!

I am so incredibly thankful that our all-knowing, all-loving God poured into her the way He did when He made her...

And even more thankful for the plans He had for her to come be an incredible influence in my life.

Mebbie - your thoughtful heart, your loving spirit and your incredible passion for your family - your brothers, your sister and the family as a whole - does not go unseen girl...

Happy Birthday Big Girl - your spirit is infectious and your love is BIG!

Staring Down The Barrel of Six

Friday - we started off yet another birthday weekend - by going to visit Mebbie's class for a breakfast treat!

Mebski Love is turning six tomorrow - so they pulled her up front and sang "Happy Birthday!" to her and celebrated her time on earth!

Then we got to hand out mini cinnamon rolls to everybody and Mebbie got to chill with one of her favorite people on the planet... Z-DOGG!

You're growing up Mebbie! And you're doing it in an awesome way!

We love you big girl!

Their Hearts In A Box

These two right here man...

They never cease to amaze me - with their hearts, their love, their spirits and their connection to God.

I love it.

We already posted about Operation Christmas Child - but we still had to add family pictures and have the girls write some letters to whoever would be getting their box.

Laura didn't guide 'em at all - she just suggested maybe saying Merry Christmas and telling them something about God.

Here's what they came up with all on their own.

Meron said:

"I hope you know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Love, Meron"

And then Mebbie said:

"Merry Christmas. I hope you know God because He saved you."

Man...

Say what you will about this ministry. We don't think a shoebox is saving the world - but we LOVE these boxes...

And the effect they have on hearts and souls on both sides of the world.

Thanks girls - for sharing truth and love and the spirit of Jesus...

Oh, The Joy

I absolutely love the amount of joy i see in this picture.

Do you see it?

It's like all I see.

joy... Joy... JOY!

Even as he hung upside down yelling out in between giggles:

"Meron! Come save me!
Just more joy... tons of it.

I love seeing these two together.

Their relationship brings sunshine to our living room.

Best Momma Ever To Me. I Love You.

Laura posted this on her Facebook page but it's entirely too awesome for me not to capture it here as well...

Tonight - she was getting Z-Dogg into his pajamas - when entirely on his own - he grabbed her, hugged her and said:

"Bes mama eva to me. I yov you."
That's huge people.

HUGE.

Anybody who has parented kids out of hard places - you know how this goes.

Sometimes we question everything. Our parenting skills. Our ability to be what they need.

Their hearts. Our hearts.

But this... this is just huge.

Thank You God - for a confirmation from the mouth of Zechie of something we already knew to be true!

Hey, You Over There...

Hey you! Yeah YOU, Mebski Love... I see you over there!

Look... I know you're the quiet one - the subtle middle child - sandwiched between boisterous big sister and maniacal little brother.

I know this. I see this. Wanna know why I don't miss ya? Cuz I am a middle child too... and I just want YOU to know that your daddy sees you over there.

I've seen you all along girl. I've seen you as you:

  • handled a move across country like a champion
  • supported your big sister in just about anything she ever asked you to do
  • loved on your little brother like it was a career - and gained his adoration in the process
  • started kindergarten and ROCKED it
  • honed your skills at drawing (you're super creative)
  • removed your training wheels and showed two wheels who is boss!
  • hurt and mourned the loss of Clay Bear (me too girl... me too)
  • grown so spiritually strong
  • took on a bully with nothing but nice words
  • prayed for kids around the world and right here near you too
  • and pretty much personified LOVE in this household
Mebbie - I could go on and on and on about the things I have seen in you.

I just want for this - that one day when you look back on all of this - you realize just how much daddy was watching girl - and how much I saw.

I love you so much Mebbie...

You've helped make me a better daddy!

Hair Night For Mebski Love

Tonight it was Mebski Love's turn to spend some time in the tub while mommy spent some time in her hair...

With as dry as it has been out here lately - Laura has been busting her butt to keep the kids' hair as conditioned and healthy as can be...

And I think she's doing a great job!

Best hair dresser this house has ever seen, right there folks!

LOOKING GOOD GUYS!

A Box For Every Kid

Yesterday - these three cuties bundled up and headed out in the snow to do some shopping...

Because you guessed it...

It's time once again for Operation Christmas Child

We love this ministry. We believe in it. We believe in those who pull it off and we believe those kids who get these boxes are prayed for and are STOKED to get them!

It blows my mind (but doesn't really) to learn that some people oppose this ministry. Some people will go to any length to bring the negativity. And satan will go to any length to use them.

But we're not buying it...

But what we ARE buying is some simple things to fill up a box so some kids across the globe who may otherwise have NOTHING on Christmas - will instead have a fun box to open...

So the girls brought it all home and got it all organized...

And then the goofball gang got busy packing!

It took some creativity to get it all in there...

But we ended up doing it!

And then... well then comes the best part.

Praying over the boxes...

This was what the girls were most concerned about - and to hear their hearts pour out love and ask God to bless the kids who receive these is nothing short of awesome...

What are you waiting for? You got one more week to drop 'em off somewhere...

GO FILL A BOX TODAY!

A Few Questions For YOU!

Ok - first a little back story here.

When Meron falls asleep - she falls ASLEEP. I mean like - lights out. HARD.

Alright - so last night - we started movie night - and Meron was done in about 30 seconds. Full on out - looking like that up there...

So - when the movie ended - since she was in a zipped up hoodie and I didn't want her sleeping in that - I threw one of my shirts on her and we managed to get her to bed.

Fast-forward to this morning...

Meron comes cruising into the living room and hightails it directly into my office and says:

""I have a few questions for you..."
I was like, "Okay..."

And she quickly said, while pointing at herself:
"First off - where did this shirt com from? And second - why didn't we do movie night?"
Honestly man... I have been laughing about it all day.

The girls is just crazy. And she sleeps HARD.

Meron - I love the way you live life - 1,000 miles per hour until ya crash hard...

STAY SILLY, GIRL!

Art You Can Bank On

Both girls had some of their school art on display at a local bank recently - and tonight we got to visit the open house to check it all out!

Looking good Mebbie!

You too, Meron!

I love seeing their creative side at work... and on display!

No. Just... NO!

This girl right here just keeps on growing up...

No matter how much I try to stop time - she just keeps on growing.

I walked in after work to see her looking all... well... GROWN UP!

Meron - you can grow up as fast as ya think ya wanna...

But you'll always be my baby girl!

Big Bank Hank

Tonight... the Hill is a little less Sugary.

Big Bank Hank passed away today. That may not mean much to ya - but if you grew up under the watchful eye of hip-hop... it means a LOT to ya.

Two words: Rapper's Delight.

What do ya do when a pioneer in a genre passes away?

Ya re-create one of your favorite pics of them with your kids, that's what...

These guys right here man... they're running around the house tonight singing:

"I said a hip, hop, a hippie to the hippie, the hip, hip hop, ya don't stop..."
First it was MCA, and now this...

The goofball gang is learning to love good music as I learn to say goodbye to great artists...

Big Bank Hank... your spirit will live on - on turntables around the world!

"And I'm here and I'm there, I'm Big Bank Hank, I'm everywhere..."

Momma's Boy

It's true.

He is.

I'm gonna break him though - the kid loves motorcycles, power tools and cars.

I do too. And I'm crazy persistent.

I'll win...
