Little Things That Are Incredibly Huge

"Are you coming daddy? Are you going to be there?"

The questions started a couple days before the scheduled award presentation at which Meron was going to be receiving an academic recognition of some sort.

"Of course I am going to be there sweetie - wouldn't miss it for anything..." I said.

And I meant it.

She asked me every day leading up to it.

Even the morning of the event (this morning).

When we walked in - it was super crowded and I spotted Meron well before she spotted us.

I watched as her head scanned the seats - the bleachers - up and down the rows - seeking out those familiar faces.

It took a minute but then - BOOM! - she keyed in on us.

Commence big smile and maniacal waving!

The actual event was short - like 2 minutes that involved her name being called - being presented a certificate for outstanding effort in Spanish - and then they sat down.

Short. To the point.

But that was never the point, was it?

This wasn't about some cute little certificate... nope, not at all.

This was about her people - her family - supporting her.

I high fived her on her way out and her smile said it all.

Outstanding student in Spanish? Cool.

Family all here to support her? WAY COOLER!

I would have skipped absolutely anything to make sure I didn't miss those 2 little minutes with my girl.

And I think she knows it too...

Sometimes little tiny things are actually big, gigantic, huge things.

Lord - help me never miss them.

CONGRATS MERON! Daddy is super proud of you girl!

And I will ALWAYS be there sweetie...
