They're Resilient As Can Be... But...

Kids... man. They are all kinds of resilient. Boo-boos, scares, fights, discipline - you name it and they seem to bounce back from it without hesitation.

But all that bouncing back doesn't mean they aren't aware or affected by the messiness of the world around them.

And we've seen that full on the past week or so.

Weird behavior.

Strange acting out.

Emotions on high.

Tonight - after a particularly out-of-character evening - when pressed hard enough, Meron finally said:

"I'm just so worried about you, Mommy..."
It breaks my heart all over the place...

I was tucking Mebbie in and I asked her how she was feeling about everything and if there was anything she needed to talk about.

With big ole tears welling up in each eye, she said:
"No, daddy. I am just scared for mommy."
The parenting handbooks don't cover this stuff, man...

And then there's this little dude.

Not old enough to articulate it - but he picks up on it and his actions have shown it the past few days.

Laura and I are trying so hard to balance discipline with grace this week.

COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF GRACE.

Cuz I think that's what He'd do right now...
