Man... I ain't gonna lie... we somehow always end up with the dopest neighbors around.
In Atlanta - our neighbors were STELLAR!
When we moved out here - this was a big fear and a big prayer of ours...
God... give us awesome neighbors!
And that He did!
Look at the amazing gift our next door folks brought over to us tonight!
A totally unique blended wooden flag that represents our family well!
You guys took it up a notch in the "coolest neighbors around" category!
Seriously - thank you so much for the kind gesture and being the coolest kind of people to live next door to!
We love the flag!

It's been a ton of fun these last few days getting to hang out with our friend Angela!
Watching her and Laura pick up like they hadn't missed a beat has been so cool...
And the whole crew loved hanging with her as well!
With chasing Aspens and Facetime with her crew and just hanging out - we had a great time!
And she fit RIGHT IN with the goofball crew for sure!
We'll think of her every time we see the awesome gift she brought for the house!
Angela - thank you so much for the way you love our crew - the way you support our crazy adventures and for just being awesome!
Come back soon and bring EVERYBODY!
We're gonna miss you!
Who's up next for a visit?

For ice cream!
We couldn't walk down that picturesque little main street in Cripple Creek without stopping in an ice cream shop...
And sweet Mebbie felt bad cuz her silly daddy is doing this mentally destructive Whole 30 diet - so all I could do was watch.
But I told her not to worry about me and dig in!
And I think she liked it!

I don't make it on to this blog that often - and let's be honest - it's all good cuz the other 4 are SO stinking photogenic... I just kind bring down the amazingness of it all!
But today we chased some Aspens up into the mountains - and our friend Angela snapped this pic for us.
I love it.
And I love this little camp of ours!

This girl right here - she makes this daddy so proud...
Her school focuses on something they call BRICKS - it stands for:
This week she received a "student of the month character award" for her CITIZENSHIP!
She was so chill about it - but mommy and I were super pumped!
Her teacher wrote some of the kindest words about her too...
In case ya can't make it out - it says:
"I am nominating Meron Hoffman for this character award. Meron consistently shows wonderful BRICKS behavior while at school. She is always a willing helper to others, a friend to all, and works very hard on her schoolwork.I mean... come on... super dooper kind words about our girl!
One day Meron organized a small volleyball class during recess. She worked on some invites during a rainy day recess with some friends in class and passed them out at the end of the day. She diligently brought her volleyball and proceeded to teach a class the next day. It was great to see the initiative and willingness to share her passion with others.
I am excited to continue the year with Meron and it is great to have such an amazing student in class this year!"
Meron - mommy and I know your awesomeness well...
But when you impress it upon your peers and your teachers - its a whole other level girl. I love that you are you no matter where you are and no matter who you're around...
Daddy couldn't be any more proud of you, baby girl!
Stay awesome Meron - and stay a friend to all you meet!

I absolutely love that one of the tag lines I found for Awana is "Because Kids Matter To God."
Yes, they do!
And our crew is in the second week of this ministry that will run through summer and start giving these guys a foundation for life (and eternity) that is built on ROCK not sand...
And they are loving it and eating it up!
So much verse memorization going on - we're hearing verses getting dropped left and right around the house!
And even little Z-Dogg...
Rocking his Awana's Cubbies vest looking like a Wal-Mart greeter!
But he loves it!
"I believe in Jesus!" he proudly declared on the way home tonight.
Amen little brother man... AMEN!
This crew right here couldn't possibly make a dad any more proud...
Thank you Lord - for the privilege and blessing of being Daddy to this amazing crew of goofy love...
Keep chasing Him guys!

I know they probably get tired of me shoving the camera in their face...
This was at her track meet and she yelled:
"But daddy! I gotta go run!"But did she split outta there on me?
Instead - she hung around smiling.
Helping me come up with blog pics for the last 8 years!
I love this girl!

Fall is almost upon us - and that means it's time for...
Cross Country Season!
The girls had their first race today!
And after warming up with some plyos...
They hit the starting line!
PRO TIP: when that gun goes off and they all start running... look for the HAIR!
Mebbie had some good form going on...
And cruised in there - even after forgetting she had to go TWO laps and almost leaving it all out there on the first one!
And Meron - the true sprinter that she is - turned that last corner - saw the finish line - and took it up another gear!
I was impressed by her kick!
Girls... you did AMAZING!
Never Stop Running!

After roughly 29 hours of traveling - I was back home Saturday evening with my crew...
Happy - but running on EMPTY.
But Laura had a plan for Sunday:
"Let's load up and go to this trail I heard about and hike it and pray and help the kids with their memory verses..."Man - she only had to ask that ONCE.
So we were off...
The trail was a 5 mile hike... a little .7 mile access trail down to a 3.75 mile loop.
and it was AWESOME!
Laura had us covered with her All Trails app letting us know we weren't wandering off in to the Rocky Mountain wilderness!
And man - what a gorgeous hike it was...
I felt like I was wandering around in a postcard most of the time...
And spending time with these guys... I could literally feel my battery getting recharged.
And they were SUPER TROOPERS!
Hardly ever stopped and never complained!
At one point - Z-Dogg and I had gotten a little distanced behind the girls and I felt a little weight on my shorts...
Zechie had done what we taught them since they could walk - if they needed to feel safe and we needed to know where they were - grab my shorts pocket so I could literally feel your presence.
and he did...
We both felt safer!
We finally caught back up with the crew and all was good!
There were so many photo ops out there too - truthfully - with our goofballs - everything turns into a photo op!
But suddenly - we realized we were about .2 miles from the end... and some crazy lady started picking up the pace!
And her minions followed suit!
We hit the parking lot - 5 miles behind us - as some tired, worn out hikers!
What a day though - with my absolute favorite people on the planet in God's stunning forest...
While we were loading up the car, pulling out some snacks and water - Meron looked at me and said:
"That was a really fun day!"
Yep Meron... it sure was!

Our friend Heather had spotted the perfect t-shirt in Addis Ababa for our goofball gang... so when I was there this past week - I had to score some of 'em!
Straight Outta Addis!
Here they are rocking 'em with a little gangsta lean...
And a whole lot of swagger and 'tude!
So next time we get asked that kinda go to question of "Why do you guys do work in Ethiopia?" - we're set with this as part of our answer:
Cuz our goofballs are Straight Outta Addis!
Friday, September 16, 2016
Meron walked up to me with her hand outstretched and said:
"Look what we made daddy! Do you know what it is...?"I looked at her - clearly with confusion written across my face - and she said:
"You should know what it is - we learned about it at your work..."Ahhh... DING DING DING DING!!
"It's a ball made out of trash bags daddy... and you can use it for soccer or whatever else..."And then she pranced off into he living room and I heard her explaining the whole thing to Laura...
These girls - they never cease to amaze me with he stuff they lock away in their minds and hearts!
Never stop learning about and loving this world girls!
