A Shoot Will Jump from the Stump of Jesse

Tonight we played catch up on one of our FAVORITE Christmas traditions - the Jesse Tree!

Haven't heard of the Jesse Tree? You should!

The Jesse Tree helps us connect the custom of decorating Christmas trees to the events leading to Jesus’ birth.

A few years ago - I rhymed out the bible verses and every night from now until Christmas Day - we sit down and read some scripture and then hang an accompanying ornament on our tree that is dedicated to this tradition!

I even had a guest rhyme reader this year!

We were a little late starting so we got to do several tonight!

Z-Dogg kicked us off with some explanation to where we were heading...

And then he hung his stump on the tree!

Next we read about the creation of EVERYTHING...

and Mebbie hung a cool framed Globe on the tree...

The fall of man came next...

And Meron hung that forbidden fruit on the tree!

Finally we wrapped it up tonight with to me some of the saddest scripture ever:

"And the Lord then regretted those that He created..."

We had let Him down. But don't fret... this whole Jesse Tree will lead us right up to God's plan for redemption!

Even Laura got to get in on the ornament action tonight as she hung Noah's Ark on the tree for us...

Never done a Jesse tree? It's not too late to start!

Feel free to grab my daily rhymes from Facebook or from my website and rhyme along as we stay focused on what we're really celebrating this time of year!

The reason for the season!
